Hi On June 29th I converted the WWOMB/Makebelieve archive to auto-archive. The URL for the opening page of the upgraded site is http://www.squidge.org/~peja/cgi-bin/index.php PLEASE USE THIS STORY TEMPLATE (or some variation of it) Title: Author: Email: Website: Permission to archive: Fandom(s): Genre (general, hetero or slash) Pairing/Characters: Rating: Summary: Warnings: Notes: Acknowledgments: PLEASE USE THE FAN RATING SYSTEM WHEN SUBMITTING: FRC — Fan Rated Suitable For Children (G) FRT — Fan Rated Suitable For Teenagers (PG) FRT-13 — Fan Rated Suitable For Older Teenagers (PG13) FRM — Fan Rated Suitable For Mature Persons (R) FRAO — Fan Rated Suitable For Adults Only (NC17) This is in response to the rumor of a C&D being brought against sites using the MPAA ratings. the FRS is brought to us by the fine folks at http://tfrrs.tripod.com/ AUTHORS, PLEASE USE THE UPLOAD FEATURE ON SITE TO ARCHIVE YOUR FICS: At this time I'm asking the authors to upload thier fics into the website archive when they post the list. It only takes a few minutes and is super easy. Just register your pen name and email (used for the comment cards) and load your fics The program I chose to use is very user friendly, allowing you to either upload a text file or cut and paste your work into the story template as you would an email. The site allows the author to not only upload their work, but to edit it as well. If you have trouble loading a fic, I've written a help page that addesses both Windows and Mac users. I'm also asking the authors posted to the previous version of this site to help speed the process of rewriting the archive by taking a few minutes to repost thier work on the new site. As the old fandom pages get moved they will be removed from the older version POSTING TIPS The archive prefers stories posted in block style. That is no indents, and double space between the paragraphes. Fancy font tends to glitch out in the posting, so please be sure your word processor is set to plain text while writing your fics. Extra script can be really frustrating in the reading process. On some occasions a post may come if glitched. this could be a encoding problem and might be fixed by going to the toolbar, clicking on view, then on encoding. If your settings says the page/post is encoded in "Western (ISO-8859-1)", try changing the setting to "Unicode (UTF-8)". Oh and, spell check your work before ya post if possible. A nice polished work brings readers back for more PAGE WORD COUNT ISSUE: Note: The site does have a limited word count on each page, so for longer fics check the finished page under "recently added". The Preview page can be deceptive. ONLIST STORY POSTING TIPS: Some of our sibs have small eboxs and some are on hand helds, which only allow posts up to a certain size. So in consideration to these folk please keep your posts right around 20K (about 12-15 pages). Longer stories should be posted in numbered segments. Oh and since its come up, please limit your daily story posts. We want to see and share whatever you have to share with the archive, but we must remember that some folk only have 2M of space to spread over however many lists they frequent. And spreading the stories out over several days allows the sibs time to savor your stories instead of rushing through them, its a win win thing for everyone this way. ONSITE SPECIAL INTEREST FEATURES: For those of you who might be interested, the ARCHIVE has a fandom call each week, spotlighting a new fandom we'd like to see posted. The new Fandom call is usually posted by Monday unless I forget. On Tuesdays we issue a new story challenge. These can be a challenge of any sort... a fandom oriented challenge, an improv, a one line or opening line challenge. I also post calls for lyric wheels and other site/list business on the archive and try to do a different (Makebelieve) list promotion. The archive news is posted here http://www.squidge.org/~peja/cgi-bin/index.php the cahllenges, issued on site and onlist are fept on file at the bottom of the catagories page, below the fandoms. You are invited to post your challenges on site at any time FEEDBACK Feedback is sent out by comment card directly to the authors email, so please keep these current, authors. Readers may also leave reviews on site by simply signing in and clicking review. Feedback is very important, so please do leave a few words, even if it's just I read, I like. ARCHIVE ELVES NEEDED: If you would like to help in moving or transferring your favorite WWOMB list, we are taking volenteers at the archive support group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MakebelieveElves. Hope to see you adding to your story listings as time allows as I said, you don't have to belong to any list to post the archive, thanks for reading, and I hope you continue to share through this upgrade with the archive PEJA
